Braun, Vernon (1920-1996 )

Vernon Robert Douglas Braun was born in Douglas, Wyoming, on June 26, 1920, the son of Mary Marie Reinhardt and John Braun, a store clerk. He married Zona Bybee (1918-2012) in 1943, and together they had two children, the first born at Johnson Air Force Base in Japan, where he was stationed in 1953. In 1954 they moved to Seattle, and shortly thereafter they settled permanently in Sacramento, California, where he worked as Deputy County Registrar. Later he and Zona built a business as booksellers. He died in Sacramento on October 23, 1996.

Zona was born in Ririe, Jefferson County, Idaho, on May 26, 1918, the daughter of Martha Lavenia Lee and Stanley Raymond Bybee. She died in Reno, Nevada, on June 3, 2012.

According to their label, Vernon and Zona collected minerals, rocks, Indian artifacts, petrified woods and fossils.
