Very scarce. This is the first appearance of an important and fundamental book that is a culmination of all the knowledge in the field of blowpipe analysis applied to minerals. In unprecedented detail Plattner describes his experiments and tests in extraordinary and complete detail, arranging the whole by element. Thus he created a masterwork that is generally regarded as the best work authored on the subject. It was updated regularly going through eight editions until 1928 and was translated into other languages. In later editions it was revised and enlarged by Theodore Richter and Friedrich Kolbeck.
