Scarce. One from the series of the Text-Books of Science. The author designed the text around two principles. First that it should be a useful guide to students wishing to acquire a flavor of the subject and second, to serve as an elementary introduction to more comprehensive textbooks on the subject, such as Dana, Des Cloizeaux, and Miller. Bauerman has been guided by Groth's Physikalische Krystallographie (Leipzig, 1876) and Rammelsberg's Handbuch der Mineralchemie (Leipzig, 1875) in his descriptions, while utilizing the crystallographic notation of Miller.

Scarce. In the preface, Bauerman describes the growing difficulty in condensing the growing amount of information about mineralogy into such a limited book. Therefore, he has included data on only the more important mineralogical species. For the purposes of illustration, the original wood blocks from `Brooke and Miller' were used (i.e., Phillips, Mineralogy, London, 1852).
