Englert, Wilhelm (1835->1907 )

Christian Wilhelm Englert was born in the Leibenstadt community, Adelsheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany on February 4, 1835, the son of Katharina Bender and Georg Englert. He served as schoolmaster and teacher (Kantor and Oberlehrer) at the Untersachsenberg-Georgenthal parochial school in Untersachsenberg, Saxony. He published ads under the company name of Voigtländische Mineralien-Sammelstelle ("Vogtland Mineral Collection Place") in the journal Deutsche botanische Monatsschrift in 1891, as well as in Insektenbörse in 1889 und 1891, offering coal fossils and also minerals in large, beautiful pieces at 20 Pfennigs apiece. In 1899 the Natural History museum in Vienna acquired from Englert a Schneckenstein topaz crystal via exchange (Annalen des K. K. Naturhistorischen Hofmuseums, vol. 14, 1899). Likewise the University of Oslo, Norway, received a large collection of Saxon topaz specimens in an exchange with Eglert in 1907. Topaz appears to have been one of his specialties, as he also offered 5-kg packages of topaz or sphalerite specimens in exchange for 5 kg of other minerals
