Rare. An annotated translation by Heinrich Salumth of the Italian original, that was not published until 1612. Panciroli's gives an account of the inventions and discoveries of the ancients in this popular work. The second volume published in 1602 deals with secrets that were unknown in antiquity but it is rare to find complete sets of the work. Ferguson, although aware of the 1599-1602 edition had seen none before 1631, but describes "Panciroli's work is interesting, not only as giving some notion of the state of knowledge as to the history of invention in his time, but as displaying the attitude of scholars towards the practical arts of the ancients."
