MUCHA, J.J.M. Wolfgang.

(1750? – ?)

Slovenian mining engineer J. J. M. Wolfgang Mucha was born on September 5, 1758 in the villiage of Corgnale (= Lokev, Slovenia) near Trieste, on Slovenian Karst, the son of D'nus Joannes Franciscus Milicharus Mucha and D'na Anna Maria (nee Zhebul-Čebulj) from Labacum (= Ljubljana, Slovenia). His father was an important landowner and was in charge of running the postal service in Corgnal. W. Mucha died on December 10, 1826 in Oviedo, Asturias, Spain.

8°: 76 p. A mineralogical study of the mercury deposits and mining works of Idria, Slovenia. These deposits were discovered in 1490 and became the second largest mercury mine in the world that was worked for 500 years, closing finally in 1990. Rare.
