8°: 215 p.

Rare. The work describes a portable laboratory designed by Göttling. It was intended for use not only by analytical chemists, natural philosophers, mineralogists, and metallurgists, but also by doctors, technologists, and manufactures. The equipment consisted of thirty-five chemicals, together with small scales and weights, a blow-pipe, and some glass apparatus, housed in two boxes approximately 12 x 9 x 9 inches.

Göttling includes in this work descriptions of over a hundred and fifty reactions that can be preformed with the materials provided. These were all reactions in solution; the author planned to write a second book describing reactions in the dry way, but this was apparently not achieved.

Very scarce. Translated from Voll-Ständiges Chemisches Probiercabinet (Jena, 1790). The preface tells of Göttling's promience as a chemist of the highest order, and that the portrable chest described within this work may be purchased from C. and G. Kearsley's, No. 46, Fleet-Street, London, who are most probably responsible for this translation being undertaken.
