GöSSEL, Johann Heinrich.

(1780 – 1846)

(Born: Friedrichswalde near Pirna, Germany, 15 June 1780; Died: Dresden, Germany, 13 October 1846) German mineralogist.

Gössel was the inspector of the royal natural history and mineral cabinets in Dresden.

Rare. Published anonymously, this work is attributed to Gössel by Poggendorff. It is an introduction to mineralogy, containing in the first volume, a scientific discussion of external characteristics, texture, hardness, density, electrical and magnetic properties, and the chemical and crystal structure of minerals, and in the second volume an outline of the mineralogical system.
