GERMAR, Ernst Friedrich.
(1786 – 1853)
Germar was professor (extra., 1816, ordinary, 1823) of mineralogy at the University of Halle. He was also the director of the mineralogical cabinet of that institution.

Scarce. The first portion gives an introduction to the science of crystallography, the laws of formation, twins, pseudomorphs, etc. The next section of the text provides a rather detailed explanation of each crystal system, i.e. Tesseral, Pyramidal, Prismatisches, and Hexangonal. The final sections give specific examples from the mineral kingdom of species that fall within a particular system.
