Rare. This rare economical mineralogy describes the nature, mining and occurrences of saltpeter, and principal component of gun powder.

Of the virtues and uses of nitre (pp. 48-80). On pages 81-93, there is a section on the importance of nitre in the manufacture of gun powder.
