BUTTGENBACH, Henri J.F.

(1874 – 1964)

(Born: 1874; Died: 1964) Belgian economic geologist & mineralogist.

As a young man, Buttgenbach entered the mining industry, working in Mexico, Florida, Argentina, Tunisia, Morocco, South Africa and principally Katanga, Zaire. He became a professor of geology at the University of Liège from 1921 to 1945. He wrote many papers on the mineralogy of Belgium and Zaire.
