BIXBY, Maynard.
(1853 – 1935)
Bixby was a professional "rockhound" in the truest meaning of that description. He collected minerals from the Tintic and other Utah mining districts. These specimens, which he sold from his Salt Lake City premises at 539 Atlas Block, now reside in many of the world's finest museums. The mineral species "Bixbyite," which he first discovered, is named in his honor.
