Estella R. Davis
Estella P. Robbins was born in Woodstock, Oxford County, Maine on September 28, 1855, the daughter of Oliver and Judith Robbins, farmers. She married the mineralogist and mineral dealer Nathaniel (Nathan) Perry (1830-1890) (q.v.) in Woodstock, Maine in 1872. Following Perry's death in 1890 she married George H. Davis, a farmer, on February 17, 1892, and she appears in Paris with him on the 1900 Census. But she died on February 13, 1901, as is buried in South Paris, Maine.
Estella exhibited minerals as late as 1900 at the Oxford County Fair in Norway, Maine. Little is known of her dealing, although she was an advertiser in The Mineral Collector. Her ad in the July 1894 issue reads: "Maine Minerals. Wishing to close out my minerals, I will sell at one-half the usual price. List sent on application. Orders by mail or express promptly attended to. Mrs. E.R. Davis, So. Paris, Me." She may also have sold minerals on consignment for the benefit of local collectors. The "Perry Collection" remained in the family for an indeterminate time, perhaps until the 1930's, and was sold locally.
