Josef Ottokar von Buschman

Josef Ottokar, Freiherr (="Sir") von Buschman was a Vienna mineral collector and author of a book on the salt monopoly in Austria in 1896, and on the salt industry in 1892, 1898, and 1906.

Buschman was a member of the board of the Vienna Mineralogical Society for several years, and served as 2nd Vice President between 1907 and 1908. In his capacity as an official of the Department of Salt Mining in the Austrian Ministry of Finance, it was probably he who arranged for the magnificent halite specimens from the salt mines of Wieliczka (now Poland) to go to the collections of the University of Vienna and the "Hofmuseum" in Vienna (now Natural History Museum).
