Alfred M. Buranek

Alfred M. "Al" Buranek, Utah geologist and mineral collector, was born July 2, 1915 and died in August of 1987. The disposal of his mineral collection was handled by Bob and Judy Huff of the Rare Earth dealership in Ketchum, Idaho.

Buranek was the author of A Reconnaissance of the Geology and Mineral Deposits of the Lake Mountains, Utah County, Utah (Utah Circular 35, 1948) with A. L. Crawford; Fluorite in Utah, Its Occurrence, Extent and Significance to Utah Industry (Utah Circular 36, 1948); Notes on the Manganese King property near Kanab, Kane County, Utah (Circular - Utah Geological & Mineralogical Survey, 1945); The molybdenum deposits of White Pine Canyon near Alta, Salt Lake County, Utah (Utah. Geological and Mineralogical Survey. Circular, 1952); and Uranium deposits covered by the Radient Claims, Kane County, Utah (Circular - Utah Geological and Mineralogical Survey, 1959).
