Ara Dildilian

Ara Tsolag Dildilian was born in Mersivan (or Marsovan), Turkey on September 16, 1907, the son of Armenian parents. He lived in Piraeus, Greece for a while where he attended Anatolia College in Thessaloniki before immigrating to the US in 1928. He attended Northeastern University near Boston (1932) and was on the Dean's List, graduating with a degree in chemical engineering. In 1934 he married Martha Howard Sisson, and together they had four children: Tsolag Ara (born in CT in 1938) and Miriam Sue (born in CT in 1939), Ruth Melinna and Rachel Carol.

In 1940 he was working as an engineer in the Bigelow-Sanford carpet mill in Hartford, Connecticut. Ara served as Chairman of the Town of Mohawk (New York) Planning Board, and in 1968 he was elected President of the Mohawk Valley Economic Development District.

He later lived in Broadalbin, New York, and during the 1960s served as President and Vice President of the Capitol District Mineral Club (New York). Ara Dildilian died on August 22, 1986, in Quincy, Massachusetts.
