Richard Richter was a German collector of insects and minerals in Hildburghausen, Thuringia. He later became a dealer as well. His ad in the Entomologische Zeitschrift (1888) read:
"Seeking to trade rare European moths (impeccable) for The German Beetle by [Carl] Schenkling, as well as other entomological books and magazines; some used, good-condition and tightly closing insect boxes, preferably with a seam. Offers with return postage billed. Richard Richter, Hildburghausen, Thüringen, Eisfelderstr. 581"
He also offered trades in the Societas entomologica for 1889. In 1898 and 1899, Richard Richter, Dealer, Hildburghausen was listed as a member of the Vereins für Sachsen Meiningische Geschichte und Landeskunde.
