Pierre-Christian Guiollard
(1954-    )

Pierre-Christian Guiollard was born in Saintes, Charente-Maritime, France, on October 17, 1954, a descendant of four generations of coal miners in the south of France (Cévennes area) – some of whom were mineralogists. He earned his PhD in the History of Sciences and Technology, specializing in the economies and business strategies of the antimony and tungsten industries in France during the 19th and 20th centuries. He also specializes in mining and ore processing technology, and is the author of 25 books on the history and heritage of gold, uranium, antimony, tungsten and coal mining in France. He has been collecting and prospecting for minerals for over 45 years, focusing his activities on silver, lead, zinc, copper, antimony and tungsten minerals, as well as gold, barite and fluorite, mainly from French deposits. He also collects mining-related documents, books, tools, lamps, postcards, photos and artifacts.

Labels for radioactive specimens:

Specimens are divided into 3 categories based on measurements of radioactivity carried out at three different distances from the specimen:
(1) In direct contact with the specimen.
(2) At 10 cm from the specimen.
(3) At 50 cm from the specimen.

At 10 cm from the specimen the radioactivity (measured in microsieverts/hour) is considered Low ("faible") if it is less than 0.5, Average ("moyenne") if it is 0.51-1.5, and High ("forte") if it is over 1.5.
