Marlyn L. Fahs

Marlyn LaVere Fahs was born in Windsor, York County, Pennsylvania on March 8, 1932, the son of Elsie Macleta Hivner and Robert Lester Fahs, a factory metal worker. He married Shirley A. Matt. He advertised Herkimer quartz crystals for sale in the December 1952 issue of Desert magazine. He established a mineral specimen dealership in Ephrata, Pennsylvania called "A Prospector" in 1973. However, his mineral label and 1959-1960 ads in Desert magazine (offering Pennsylvania minerals) give his address as 2425 Sunset Road in York, Pennsylvania (the address of his distant cousin, Robert Leo Fahs). At least one of his specimens ended up in the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh (source of the label shown here). Marlyn died in Ephrata, Pennsylvania on January 15, 2001, and is buried at Mohler Brethren Cemetery in Ephrata.
