Ernst Noske
(ca.1885?-ca. 1965?)

Ernst Noske was a professional engineer and shipping magnate, and also a mineral collector, in Gross Flottbek, a suburban section of the city of Hamburg. In 1965, through the help of the Volkswagen Foundation, the University of Hamburg acquired his 17,000-specimen comprehensive systematic mineral collection. Unfortunately for history, he discarded all original labels for the specimens he acquired. [Note: Brandt et al. incorrectly give his first name as Emil.]
