Joseph J. Kuchar

Joseph Jaromir Kuchar was born on 30 December 1894 in Zlaubern, Bohemia, Czechoslovakia, the son of Anna Hoffman and Joseph Kuchar, an insurance agent. His parents and older brother Frank, a tunnel surveyor, first immigrated to Manhattan in 1890, but returned to Bohemia shortly thereafter; they all then returned to New York in 1896. Joseph worked as a farmer in his youth, and married Mildred Storie around 1920; as of 1930 they were living in Montvale, Bergen County, New Jersey, on Franklin Avenue. He was a civil engineer for a buliding contractor, and also worked for the J.G. White Engineering Company, at the Mount Hope mine in Mount Hope, Morris County, New Jersey. He died in Montvale in July of 1971 at age 76.
