Joseph E. Bausman

Joseph Ervin Bausman was born April 10, 1879 in Pennsylvania, married Grace May in 1905, and together they had a son, Irvin, in 1907/8. He owned and operated a printing company in Philadelphia, and lived at 632 Girard Avenue. Bausman was also a well-known aquarist. in 1915 he began publishing Aquatic Life, an international monthly magazine devoted to the study, care and breeding of native, exotic, gold and domesticated fishes, other animals and plants in the home aquarium and terrarium. The last issue was January 1942.

In addition to his interest in aquaria, Bausman was also a mineral collector and mineral dealer. A "Bausman" (no first name given), surely the same man since he also lived at 632 E. Girard Avenue in Philadelphia, advertised in the December 1933 and the December and February 1934 issues of Rocks & Minerals." He offered "Minerals from every clime. Large selection of fluorescent minerals. ... Just received nice Pyromorphite from Phoenixville, Pa."
