William deLorraine
(1952-    )

William S. deLorraine is a geologist in Governeur, New York, and is an employee of the Zinc Corporation of America in Balmat, New York, where his is Chief Geologist at the Balmat No. 2 mine. He is a mineral collector and member of the St. Lawrence County Mineral Club. DeLorraine and fellow geologist John T. Johnson donated a large number of specimens from the zinc mines of St. Lawrence County to the State Museum of New York in Albany in 1992. The specimens included fine examples of rare cubic magnetite crystals as well as type locale donpeacorite (deLorraine and Johnson had provided the type specimens for the original description of the species in 1984). He has also coauthored "Isotopic geochemistry of a mid-Proterozoic evaporite basin: Balmat, New York" (American Journal of Science, 1990) and " Serendibite from the Northwest Adirondack Lowlands, in Russell, New York, USA" (Mineralogical Magazine, 1990).
